The Municipal Museum of Esposende is housed on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Theatre Club building. Both the original building and its more recent adaptation to suit the museum were handled by distinguished Portuguese architects. The theatre was designed by Ventura Terra (1866-1919) in 1908 and inaugurated in 1911. The conversion was carried out in 1992-1993 under Bernardo Ferrão, who had the difficult task of combining the two functions. The museum has two permanent exhibitions dedicated to the Ethnography and History of Esposende.
