A Romanesque-Gothic church built in the 13th/14th centuries; it was subject to major restoration in the 17th century. The impetus for this latter work was the elevation of the town to a bishopric in 1771. The church served as a cathedral until 1881 when the bishopric was annexed to Portalegre. The pleasant façade has twin bell towers and the interior contains a wide range of art forms. The Chapel of Santíssimo Sacramento, with its Pedro Alexandrino paintings, and the sacristy are from the 19th century. Note the fine masonry work in the coat of arms over the door to the vestry.
