The Montebelo golf course, about 13 km southwest of Viseu, has the magnificent backdrop of the Serra da Estrela and the Serra do Caramulo. Now consisting of 27 holes, each nine holes is named after a geographical feature, Caramulo, Estrela and the subsequently added Buçaco. The course was designed by Mark Stilwell and Malcolm Kenyon and inaugurated in 1997. The original 18 holes measures 6,317 metres and is a par 72. Facilities include a driving range, putting green, chipping area and golf shop; buggies, hand trolleys and clubs can be hired. The clubhouse has a bar, restaurant and swimming pool.
