South of the town of Santa Cruz das Flores, on the road down to Lajes, a small road leads to the 210 m high Monte das Cruzes. It is worth the climb up to a beautiful viewpoint providing a magnificent vista of Santa Cruz and, in the other direction, across the north of the island towards the prominent peaks of Pico da Sé, Pico dos Sete Pés and Morro Alto. On clear days it is possible to get outstanding views of the neighbouring island of Corvo.
