Monte da Guia is a mountain lookout point, with a beautiful panoramic view of Horta, the beach of Porto Pim and the coast to Ponta de Castelo Branco as well as the island of Pico. This zone is considered protected scenery due to its beautiful landscape and unique fauna. The peninsula of Monte da Guia was formed by an extinct volcano whose mostly submerged crater opens in a horseshoe-shape to the sea and is connected to the island by a low isthmus.
