The church, built mid-16th century after Silves had been integrated into the House of Rainhas, was bestowed on Queen Leonor by King João II. It served the religious charity Santa Casa da Misericórdia. The main facade has a portico of classical design and the interior is simple with just a single nave. Attention is drawn to the Mannerist painted panel in the main chapel. Changes from the 18th century onwards can be seen in the floral detail and rocaille-style pelmets. The coat of arms is that of King João V. The central painting of the Visitation dates back to 1728.
