In the same square as the town hall is the Miseracórdia Church, attributed to the 1585 design of Filipo Terzio, but which was only completed in 1653 under master builder Manuel Azenha. It is noted for its grandiose portal and its 19th century azulejo decorated façade; the statue between the windows is of Nossa Senhora da Misericórdia. Inside, the panelled, vaulted ceiling of the chancel is in local Ançã stone and the design and decoration of the façade portal is reproduced above the altar. The 1767 pipe organ made by João Fontanes has recently been restored.
