The Porto Military Museum began in 1920 and opened with an exhibition on the Liberal Revolution of 1820. This revolution had its origin in a military insurrection which took place in Porto and eventually led to the return of King John VI. Today this small museum houses a collection of uniforms, equipment, light weapons, and heavy artillery from the 16th to 20th centuries. Illustrating the development of warfare through the ages, the most interesting exhibit is the collection of miniature soldiers.
