One of the most popular tourist attractions is the Mata dos Dragoeiros (Dragon Tree Wood) on the island of Pico. This is the place to see one of the largest concentrations in the Azores of this species of tree that is native to Macaronesia. The Mata dos Dragoeiros is part of a rural vineyard that dates back to the 18th century and also contains the Wine Museum. In the museum visitors can find out about the history of Pico’s vineyards and appreciate the qualities of this Azorean drink.
