Marta Ortigão Sampaio donated this house and art collection to the Porto City Council in 1978. The house dates from the 1950s and was designed by architects José Carlos Loureiro and Pádua Ramos. The collection consists of landscape, portrait and still life naturalist paintings from the late 19th and early 20th century, more than 300 pieces of jewellery from the 17th to the 20th century, and furniture. Artists represented include Artur Loureiro, Marques de Oliveira, Sousa Pinto, Silva Porto, Carlos Reis, Aurélia de Sousa, Sofia de Sousa and Veloso Salgado. Part of the exhibition deals with the evolution of jewellery.
