The Marrazes School Museum developed from an exhibition, organised by a group of school teachers at the Marrazes primary school in 1992, entitled ‘The School through the Ages’. The original exhibition was so successful, that it continued until 1995 in a room at the school and the parish council then allocated larger and more suitable accommodation. The museum was founded in 1997 and is now housed in eight themed rooms with space for temporary exhibitions. The themes are Geology, Handicrafts and Carpentry, the Classroom, Portuguese Youth, Traditional Toys, Books before Castilho, the End of the Monarchy, the 1st Republic and the Dictatorship.
