Marmelete is a cluster of low white houses, typical of those built in the Upper Algarve. The whitewashed walls stand out from a background of warm colours, of browns and ochres and green hills. It is an enchanting and picturesque place to visit. Marmelete is in the heart of the Serra da Monchique and offers all the charm of yesteryear, yet is within easy reach of shopping, beaches and golf courses. The country chapel of Santo António (St. Anthony) stands on a small elevation and affords fine views of the surrounding countryside.
