The Portimão Marina is the heart of the city, surrounded by famous and beautiful beaches, and guarded by the fortresses of São João and Santa Catarina. With plenty of shops, restaurants and bars, this is the ideal spot to watch the rich and famous at play. Portimão is one of the main big game centres in the Algarve, offering the chance to catch fighting swordfish and other big game. There are also facilities for sailing, windsurfing, parasailing, water-skiing and scuba diving. Various boat trips are available leaving from the marina.
