South of Afife beach, and named after a nearby restaurant, Mariana beach is also known as Arda or Bico. It is considered one of the best in Portugal for surfing and body boarding and is also used for windsurfing and volleyball. In an area of great natural beauty, the beach is surrounded by a long cordon of dunes. This is an EEC blue flag beach, with lifeguards on duty in season and facilities for the disabled. The average seawater temperature in summer is 15-16 ºC and parking is available. Umbrellas can be hired and there are bar, café and restaurant facilities.
