The tiny village of Maia, on the southeast coast, has one of the two most beautiful bays in the archipelago. The bay has natural swimming pools in the volcanic rocks and crystal-clear waters. The village is very pretty and is very popular with tourists. While there you can also climb up to a lighthouse, which dates from 1927 and is open to the public. It provides a spectacular 360° view and is not to be missed! The bay is overlooked by stunning terraced vineyards.
