The countryside around Lourinhã is worth exploring and the area has many windmills. Located on a plateau just before Moita dos Ferreiros, about 9 km east of Lourinhã, are the five Pinhõa windmills, which are in a perfect state of conservation and also offer fine views. One of the windmills has been converted into a bar and terrace with traditional bread ovens nearby. Lourinhã is the only region in Portugal designated for brandy production and is claimed to produce brandy equal to the best in France.
