The Lisbon Casino opened in the Parque das Nações in 2006, after much controversy. It occupied the site of the Pavilhão do Futuro (Pavilion of the Future), one of the main attractions of Expo 98. The pavilion was extensively rebuilt to the design of architect Fernando Jorge Correia and was conceived as an entertainment centre with gambling as just one attraction. The Oceans Auditorium seats 600 and presents live shows, whilst the Arena lounge rotating central bar also has a various performances. Four bars, three restaurants and an art gallery are part of the complex together with the usual gambling facilities.
