Lethes Theatre is located at the end of Rua Lethes and at the beginning of Rua Dr. Justino Cúmano. The building was a college of the Society of Jesus from the 16th to the 18th century. The school remained in the possession of the Jesuits until 1759, when they were expelled. Some twenty years later it was given to the Carmelites. After the extinction of the religious orders, it was bought in public auction in 1843 by Dr. Lazaro Doglioni, who converted it into a theatre. Inaugurated in 1845, it was the most outstanding cultural space in Faro.
