The long stretch of sand of Leirosa Beach is located beyond the Costa de Lavos Beach and about 16 km south of Figueira da Foz. It is sheltered and virtually deserted over much of its length. Although the waves are strong, the absence of underwater currents or drag makes it safe for swimming and highly attractive for surfing and body boarding. This is an EEC blue flag beach with lifeguards on duty during the season and an average seawater temperature in summer of 16 ºC. There are bar and restaurant facilities.
