Lagoa do Fogo (Lake of Fire) has been a Nature Reservation since 1974 and is a must see for all nature lovers. On the top of the volcanic complex of Serra de Água de Pau is a lake surrounded by endemic vegetation and with limpid waters and white sand beaches, in an environment of great beauty. The access by north or by south permits extraordinary views of the island, the ideal places for photos and filming. It is one of the most beautiful landscapes of São Miguel Island. This huge blue lake is about 2 km long and 1 km wide.
