If you have a sense of adventure, consider a kayak trip on the River Mondego from Penacova to either Torres (18 km) or Coimbra (25 km). O Pioneiro do Mondego have been organising these trips since 1987, the only requirement is that you know how to swim. You will be taken to the place of departure from a designated meeting point and instructed in kayaking techniques and the river and given everything you need for the trip. The beaches on the Montego offer the perfect place to picnic on your descent. The company also hires out boats and canoes and arranges boat trips.
