The Jardim Sena Freitas is a popular place for tourists and locals alike. Whether you are looking for a few moments rest or want to enjoy a stroll amongst the brightly-coloured flowerbeds, this garden is a delight. Surrounding the garden are some interesting palaces, including the Palácio do Marquês da Praia, the Solar dos Medeiros e Albuquerque and the Palácio da Conceição, which is now used as the home of the Azores Regional Government. Amongst the various plant species in this botanical garden are a horse chestnut, Canary palms, a weeping willow, a tulip poplar, a robinia, a New Zealand Christmas tree, sabadillas and a Judas-tree.
