The Jardim Florêncio Terra, dating from the nineteenth century is one of the oldest gardens in the city of Horta. It is a pleasant leisure area, decorated with a bandstand, a small lake and several statues. It is worth taking some time to observe some of the park’s particularly fine specimens, such as five dragon trees whose tops are joined together and an araucaria. From the gardens there are splendid views over the town and the harbour. With the Pico Mountain as the backdrop, the vista is absolutely spectacular.
