The Tróia Peninsula is located next to the Sado River estuary and tourism is the peninsula’s main activity. There is a ferry boat connection between the peninsula and the city of Setúbal. Tróia has important archeological sites dating from the time when the peninsula was an island called Alcalá and settled by the Romans. The evolution of the occupation of Tróia is closely linked to the political history of the Roman Empire. The peninsula has many restaurants, a swimming pool and beautiful beaches on the Atlantic coast.
