The beach is located at the eastern end of Ilha de Tavira, close to Barra do Cochicho. Access is by boat from the Cais das Quatro Águas in Tavira, but it is possible to swim out to the island. There are facilities for a range of water sports and cruises are available to the Ria Formosa. On the side of the island facing the Ria Formosa, the water quality is good and the lagoon is safe for children. There are also facilities provided for diving. The beach has restaurants and toilets and it is supervised during the bathing season.
