The parish church dedicated to Santa Maria Maior still retains its medieval appearance. It was built in the 13/14th centuries in Romanesque style with Gothic influence on the instructions of Dom Pedro, the third Count of Barcelos whose coat of arms can be seen on the archivolts of the main portal. The 18th century azulejo panels, depicting the life of the Virgin Mary, are impressive, as are the rose window and the altar, which is an array of gold leaf, cherubs, birds and grapes.
