The Church of Espírito Santo was founded in 1573 to support the charitable works of the Portuguese Misericórdia hospital. The chapel has a granite doorway, built in the Renaissance style and representing a unique feature amongst the various artistic details to be noted in Marvão. Consisting of a round arch, the doorway is flanked by two pilasters decorated with a geometric frieze. Above the doorway is a pediment of volutes framing a niche containing a statue of the Virgin Mary. In front of the church is a small square with an 18th-century marble fountain, the Fonte do Concelho.
