São Bartolomeu church, situated in the parish of the same name, was built in the 16th century on the site of a 15th century chapel. The church has a fine marble Renaissance doorway with a niche holding a polychrome marble image dating from the 17th century. Also worth noting is the curious bell tower with a bulb-shaped dome enlivened by fanlights in the corners. Elegant use of marble on the altars, tables, doorways, fonts and lavabos make the interior outstanding. The side walls are lined with azulejo panels dating from the 17th century and the triumphal arch is of black and white marble.
