The Church of Santo Antão is located in the main square of Évora, the Praça do Giraldo. It is an important structure and is integrated within the city’s historic centre. The Church of Santo Antão was built in the 16th century in accordance with the designs of the royal architects, Miguel de Arruda, Manuel Pires and Afonso Álvares. The church is renaissance in style and the treasures of the interior include the "Souls" panel, attributed to Jerónimo Corte Real, a 16th century artist who was born in Évora.
