Classified monument of national interest, the Igreja de Santa Bárbara is a pretty white church. One of the most beautiful examples of religious architecture, it was built in the 18th century, in Baroque style with carved archway and chancel with a carved cedar roof. The dark red masonry work of the façade includes a niche containing a statue of the patron saint. The interior includes representations of St George and the Holy Spirit in the central medallions, the azulejo-tile panels featuring scenes from the life of Santa Bárbara and the altarpieces dedicated to Santo Inácio and São Francisco Xavier.
