The church of Our Lady of Grace stands on the site of the former Igreja de Santa Maria, founded by Prince Henry the Navigator and destroyed in an attack by the English sea captain Francis Drake. Dating from the late 16th century, presumably at the time of King Sebastian, the church was built on a rectangular plan with a hemispherical cupola covering the chancel. The church is very pretty and is most noted for its statue of St. Vincent and ancient tombstones.
