The Church of Nossa Senhora da Assunção is the Parish Church of Vila do Porto. It was built during the 15th and 16th centuries, and reconstructed in the 17th and 19th centuries. Boasting an attractive bell tower and ogive lateral portal, the church has maintained some Gothic and Manueline influences from the old structure, including the Chapel of Santa Catarina, which has a ribbed vaulted arched roof. Key features of the interior include the 18th-century baroque carved woodwork altars and early 16th century Flemish statues, in particular a statue of Our Lady with baby Jesus. A 19th-century Fountain is located in front of the church.
