The Igreja da Misericórdia, situated almost next to the Igreja da Senhora das Candeias, was established early in the 16th century. Of Manueline design, this church would have been the hospital of the village, and also serve as a shelter for pilgrims. The altar in the main chapel is carved and gilded in baroque style and dates from the end of the 17th century. It is attributed to Inácio de Faria. This is a building of some architectural merit, as is the small chapel of Santa Luzia on the outskirts of the town, which was originally a Muslim oratory.
