This church was built in the 16th century and rebuilt in the 18th after the earthquake of 1755. It has recently undergone extensive restoration work inside and out. Located right at the heart of the historic town centre of Aljezur, with its typical alleyways and whitewashed walls, the church has a relatively simple facade, which is highlighted by an 18th century bell-tower and Renaissance-style main entrance. The interior is less ornate than many Portuguese churches, but has interesting flagstones and fraternity table.
