The Hermitage of Nossa Senhora do Repouso (Our Lady of Rest) is a small chapel built in the 18th century. It is situated inside one of the Moorish arches set into the ramparts of the city walls. After the 12th century Almohade invasion, two watchtowers were built to strengthen the defences. These currently form part of the Arco do Repouso (Archway of Rest), one of the archways into the Vila Adentro, the historic town centre of Faro.
