The Ermida de Nossa Senhora de Fátima was erected in 1925 and was the second church dedicated to Nossa Senhora de Fátima (Our Lady of Fatima) to be built in the world. Access to the church is achieved via a 150-step stone staircase, equivalent to the number of steps of the rosary. Our Lady of Fatima is the title given to the Blessed Virgin Mary by those who believe that she appeared several times to three shepherd children at Fátima, Portugal in 1917, starting on 13 May, the Fatima holiday. The children said that the apparition called herself "the Lady of the Rosary."
