Agua de Madeiros beach is close to Pedro do Ouro and about 30 km northwest of Alcobaça, just south of the lively seaside resort of São Pedro de Moel. This is a large beach enclosed by tall cliffs and is popular for fishing; the sheltered part of the beach has the added advantage of a small river, ideal for children to play in. An unusual facility is the possibility to hire horses for riding through the surrounding pine forests. The beach has lifeguards in season, when the average seawater temperature is 16-18 ºC.
