The Miadouro da Graça not only provides great panoramic views, including that of St George’s Castle, but is a popular place for an early evening snack and drink, particularly with the locals. The Convento da Graça, an Augustinian monastery, dates from 1271 and was rebuilt in the 18th century; it is now used as a barracks. The Graça church is worth a visit, it houses the Senhor dos Passos, used in a procession and featuring Christ carrying the cross on his way to Calvary. There are also some interesting azulejos.
