Located approximately 13 km southwest of Arganil in a valley on the banks of the Ceira River and between the Carvalhal and of Rabadão mountains, the town of Góis is more than 800 years old. The Manueline Real bridge was built on the orders of King João III in 1533, whilst the adjacent chapel of the martyr São Sebastião, is from the 18th century. The Renaissance mother church of Góis, Santa Maria Maior, is in Roman/Gothic style and the ceiling of the Paços do Concelho is remarkable. There are many other attractions in the town and the surrounding area.
