The small, calm, Gelfa beach, situated next to the ruins of Fort Cão, is flanked by sand dunes, and crossed by wooden walkways to gain access to the beach. The smell of pine trees from Mata Nacional da Gelfa protected area, encourage the coastal walks for which this area is ideally suited. There is a children’s amusement park to interest youngsters, but no lifeguards. The average seawater temperature in summer is 15-17 ºC and there are facilities for the disabled and parking is available.
