Fuseta is a relatively unspoilt, working fishermen’s village near Olhão. The traditional square whitewashed cottages, with flat roof terraces topped by balloon-shaped and latticed chimneys, are characteristic of this part of the Algarve. The pretty houses stretch almost until the edge of the sea. Nearby are the ruins of watchtowers at Torre de Bias, Cumeada and Alfanxia. Fuseta Tower gives splendid views over the Ria Formosa area and the islands of Tavira, Armona, Culatra and Farol. Fuseta has some of the best beaches in the Algarve and there are regular boat trips to the islands.
