The Gruta Dágua, also known as Furna d’Água, is a cave of volcanic origin only a few metres of the crossing at Cabrito. It is a large lava cavern, probably dating from an eruption about 2000 years ago. The lava tube, which covers, together with its offshoots, a length of about 500 metres, contains several dripstones, a whole range of lava stalactites and abundant water springs. It is open to visitors and guided tours are available, but it is recommended to check opening times beforehand.
