Located 5 km west of Ovar, the extensive Furadouro beach has strong waves and a reputation for surfing and body boarding. It also caters for fishermen and, inland, beyond the forest, windsurfers and yachtsmen are attracted to the calmer waters of the estuary. This is an EEC blue flag beach with lifeguards on duty in season and facilities for the disabled. The average seawater temperature in summer is 16 ºC and parking is available. There are bars, cafes and restaurants, small craft and umbrellas can be hired.
