Fratel Reservoir close to Nisa is worth visiting purely for the beauty of the surrounding countryside. The area is perfect for nature tours and walks, the observation of fauna, fishing and water sports. In fact this dam provides a wonderful day out for the entire family. Except in specifically designated areas, motorised water sports are not permitted. Facilities include accommodation and restaurant. The dam is signposted from Nisa and the IP2, Portalegre - Castelo Branco road, crosses the dam wall.
