Located 10 km northwest of Caldas da Rainha, where the Óbidos Lagoon meets the sea, the Foz do Arelho Beach offers two alternatives. On one side the open sea is rough, but without undercurrents and is ideal for surfing and body boarding. On the lagoon side, a place of great natural beauty, the prevailing winds create good conditions for windsurfing. This is an EEC blue flag beach, with lifeguards on duty in season and facilities for the disabled. The average seawater temperature in summer is 17-18 ºC, parking is available, umbrellas can be hired and there are bars, cafes and restaurants.
