The Forte de Santo Alberto, situated on Ilha do Pessegueiro, a small island off the coast of Porto Cove, has been classified as a national monument. This is the remains of a lookout post which served the mainland fortress of Nossa Senhora de Dentro. On the island are also the ruins of Roman buildings, these include a fish salting factory which is believed to have given the island its name as a derivative of the Latin “piscatorius”. Access is by boat.
