Located between Querença and Tôr, the Fonte da Benémola is a protected 390-hectare site of rare beauty. The presence of water here all year round attracts a wide range of animal species, the most important of which in this reserve is the otter. Also precious, living in small caves along the banks of the river, are two colonies of bats. In order to preserve the area, a special footpath runs along the length of the watercourse, some 1,500 metres in length, enabling visitors to experience the nature reserve without damaging the eco-system.
