Lying about 18 km northeast of Tomar, Ferreira do Zêzere is attractively located between extensive forest and the River Zêzere, it is close to the Castelo de Bode lake which offers a wide variety of water sports. Attractions include the Parish Church, which has some paintings, sculptures, fine gilded woodcarving and 18th century stalls. The ruins of the defensive medieval Torre de Langalhão, also known as the Torre da Murta, can be found on the Pereiro to Milheiros road and the lovely village of Dornes (see separate entry) is also nearby. The Avecasta Caves are a further attraction.
