The Estufa Fria is located in the northwest corner of the Edward VII Park (see separate entry) and is located on the site of a former quarry. Opened in 1930, it is a natural habitat for exotic plant species from all over the world and, as its name implies, provides shade and cooler conditions than its neighbouring glass house the Estufa Quente. This relaxing area is jungle-like with streams, waterfalls, statues and winding paths and is a complete plant museum. There is a nearby pond with large carp and a play area.
