The Hermitage of Santo António was built shortly after the castle was constructed and is located on the top of a hill within the castle walls. Situated as it is, it provides a wonderful viewing point over the region of Castro Marim. The church would have been used as the main chapel for the castle residents. Inside is a single nave. The altarpiece has highly decorative painted panels that depict important moments in the life of Saint Anthony.
